    Pool Party on Thursday

On Thursday, I went to my friend's pool party, at Chloe Halley's place. Unfortunately, when I got there half an hour late, the pool was closed. Actually, the pool was closed even longer than that. Turned out that there were too many chemicals mixing and cleaning the pool. Something like that. So we just sat around the patio area with our snacks (each guest must bring a snack) munching and chatting a bit for like 45 minutes. Most of them were band students, so I didn't know most of them. Chloe expected a lot more people, and was disappointed by the turnout. She dressed in a nice white dress, which kind of looked nice on her. There was approximately 9 people there, including me. Javier or somebody splashed some water from their water bottles on somebody, and had a few aims at some others. Kimberly suggest 20 questions, but after 2 rounds, it was quite lame. Megan Jo stopped by with some nice fresh fruit. Luscious kiwis and strawberries. Mmm.

Robbi was being a jerk (as Chloe claimed) and wouldn't come out of the car. Megan went back for a minute or two to persuade him to come out. He came.

There was a little hubbub that Chester Hillborn might be swinging by later. Some kids were ok with Chester coming, some weren't. Chloe wasn't. If you didn't know, Chester Hillborn is this guy at school that really sounds gay, but claims he's all Christian and isn't gay. Though lots of people have doubts, the way Chester acts. I can't blame them.

So we decided to move the party inside, because : a) we were so bored and would rather watch a movie, and b) to get away from Chester in case he did stop by

On the way in, another girl stopped by. Some Asian person in a lower grade. Had no idea what her name was though.

So we climbed the the outdoor steps to her 2nd floor apartment. I thought it was rather nice, the complex. White crown molding, comfy feel, and didn't look too bad. Chloe's room was richly designed with light pink paint on the walls, a bed with a small canopy overhanging the head side of the bed, a desk with a shiny new Dell laptop and printer, a bookshelf with a myriad of books, DVD's, band awards, and topped with a Buddha statue on top (just for decoration - Chloe is Christian), and typical girl flair. We clustered around the living room area, and pondered on which movie to watch. In the end, we went for the 40 Year Old Virgin. I never saw the movie before, but wasn't that thrilled watching the first half. The comedy parts didn't make laugh as much. I sat on the nice big comfy couch with Luke and Nicole.

Later, somewhere in the 2nd half of the movie, Chloe called us into her room to shoot some party-webcam-slideshow thing. There was this PlayStation Eye, and it would take a picture of each of us (some with funny faces) and then used Aniboom.com to make some rapid fast-forward slideshow of all of us. It was pretty neat. I was disappointed by my picture. I didn't really attempt a good picture.

So then we watched more of the darn movie, some people left, we ate more snacks, and eventually finished the movie. Then we lingered around and talked a bit, and finally called it quits. Nothing wild, nothing dramatic, and nothing else went off at the party. Chester didn't show up, though I did call a false alarm earlier in the apartment. People jerked their heads towards the main windows, overlooking the grassy lawn and some of the pool area, where a guy was walking. Wasn't Chester. Lol. That was pretty much the whole pool party.

Haven't update for a LONG while, very sorry

Arrgh. I have to manage a lot of things, and I just don't have the time to update this blog. So here's what's been going on lately:

I went to a choir concert on 5/7 and it was the last one of the year. I kinda liked it. Kinda. I wish I could understand some of the songs that were in a different language. I posted videos already. One of the choir teachers had a birthday that came right at the beginning of summer vacacation, so we sang her a song and had chocolate cake in the small commons.

Then two slow weeks of school passed by. These are like the easiest weeks of the year. We learned rather simple stuff. Wish more days could be like this.

I took the Dual-credit test on 5/18. The English part was relatively easy (well at least not THAT hard), but I really stumbled on the math stuff. Some of it was stuff I didn't learn. Luckily, you only have to pass the English part to get in. Getting into the dual-credit system seems complicated to me. You have to go online and register, and sometimes I couldn't find the right links, because they all sounded similar on the directions. I was confused. I hope I didn't mess up. Seems like I'm in though. Unfortunately, I didn't have any ID when I went to the testing room, so I had to wait for like half an hour for my dad to come with my high school ID card. It was a year old (lost the recent one), but they accepted it. I don't know why they can't make the signing-up process more streamlined and easier to follow, instead of a bunch of paperwork to look at (my counselor had to circle the areas), directions on how to sign-up from the web (super complicated when it shouldn't be), and the fact that it's just not simple. How hard is it to compile a simple checklist for a student to do? Right up to the "bring ID at testing facility", instead of making me waste time like that. Ugh.

On Memorial Day, I discovered I woke up in the early afternoon (I don't get enough sleep at night), and didn't get to really do anything. I did go to my parents' friends' house, and have some BBQ.

That's about it really. So far, that's all that's been going on around here. I'll try to catch up some more later.

Beautiful concert : Forever and Never playing at Discovery Green Park

    image

I went to the Forever and Never concert at Discovery Green today, and it was great. I managed to get a great shot of the audience here. If you didn't know, F&N play a lot of indie rock kind of stuff, and it was awesome. At the concert, they even played their greatest all time hit "Beyond the Sky". It was spectacular. You should really try seeing their concerts. They even gave free mood rings!

    TAKS Week

It's been a week of the boring TAKS's. Actually, it wasn't the awful. TAKS days are super-easy. Probably the easiest days of the year. You just take the test and sit for a few hours waiting for the other to finish. Then you go one of you two classes of the day, eat lunch sometime during then, and then go on to your last class of the day. Most classes just have it easy.

So here's how my TAKS days went.

Monday - No TAKS for everybody. Just classes and preparation.

Tuesday - Math TAKS for 10th. Was relatively easy. I had 4th period (Algebra II) and 6th period (Chem.). We just worked on a stupid SFA review in 4th, and practiced some TAKS stuff in 6th.

    Wednesday - Math TAKS for 11th, and 9th. I just had 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th period. That's it.

Thursday - Science TAKS for 10th, 11th. I thought this was pretty hard that it should be. There were some tricky questions that most of us (10th AND 11th) weren't prepared for. Later it was revealed that they implemented some field questions (to see how students would perform on these) and they won't be graded. There's not a lot of certainty, but they could be the hard ones. Hopefully. I had 1st and 3rd period. Watched Oprah's video special with Elie Wiesel at Auschwitz and talked about the book The Chosen. And in 3rd period, we watched Lion King in Spanish. I just fell asleep, and luckily we didn't have to watch the whole thing and got free time.

Friday - History TAKS for 10th, and 11th. Science CBA for 9th - SUPER-EASY test. The only remote difficulty I had was analyzing dumb excerpts. But that's about it. Had 5th period and finished watched more National Treasure, and had B-lunch. Had 6th period and we learned some bits about Organic Chemistry (like alkanes, alkynes, alkenes, and played with molecule models to make the hydrocarbons).

So it was a pretty easy week. I wouldn't mind having more TAKS test if we could take it this easy.
